Want a video of your sewer? Everything’s for sale in the USA.

I just wrote a column about Halloween and got the usual dumbass comments from News24 readers here in the USA and back home. I mean, how retarded do you have to be to think I seriously think I’ll get beaten up for a silly halloween costume here in Orange – or that if I thought I did, I’d wear it? Actually maybe I would. I’m not exactly good with the whole “take care of self” trip.

Here’s the column link. Silly but sorta fun.

Meanwhile, here’s something I consider scary.

Americans are kinda obsessed with their poop and with all things anal (I'm going by the amount of info they give about what they did in the loo, and their porn sites, here). But Sewer Videos? Seriously, people... why do you want to see that shit?

Then you will also be surprised to know, sewer videos are available in SA, Europe and elsewhere in the world. Crumbling decaying broken infrastructure means tools such as visual inspection of the sewer pipe helps identify the condition, leakage sites, blockages, of the pipe, etc which can be useful in determining where to dig to fix rather than digging up the whole pipe to find the source of the problem…

Read the column and yes I agree with you Orange is tea-party territory…maybe get a Hilary Clinton mask for Halloween it will really scare the locals…

Spread the word to end the word, your use of the R word is offensive and disappointing .

Ah, let’s take this all really really seriously. The word retarded applied to stupid people is different to when applied to those with genuine mental disability. But I suspect I don’t have the time to explain this to you – nor do I think it’s possible.

As a Dodge alum, I am embarrassed by your use of the r word, and even more so by your hurtful response toward the previous poster. Special Olympics and Best Buddies run a campaign called “Spread the Word to end the Word” – meaning ending the use of the word retard or retarded in slang contexts such as your’s. Using this word to mean something stupid or negative ALWAYS has a hurtful impact on the disabled community, even when not applied directly to a person with an intellectual disability. You just associated being stupid with having a disability – people with intellectual disabilities are FAR from stupid. Your reply is as ignorant as saying it’s okay to say “That’s so gay” about someone or something stupid, as long as you aren’t actually referring to someone who is gay.

http://www.r-word.org – Please take the time to educate yourself before you continue to be incredibly hurtful and ignorant.

Rebecca, you can’t ban a word, and context does matter, and humor does give license. I’m sorry, but it does! Hard line, PC for the sake of it judgement like yours only alienates people from supporting the real causes. I am opposed to any kind of real hurtfulness (such as denying people health care or education or the right to marry – in ANY state.)

I’m sorry I offended you, but I think you’re missing my point. I also reserve the right to say “that’s so gay” without being accused of being homophobic just because of the use of the word. I usually find that only people who think there’s something wrong with being gay actually give a damn.

I’m not writing this blog as a representative of Dodge College, so I’m really not sure what that has to do with the issue.

I’m pretty sure I would have been open minded with Bill, whoever he really is, if he had not jumped in with a little snappy slogan like he did.
